  6. How do I get a MOBIVOX local access number?

You can look up MOBIVOX access numbers for any part of the world under the Access number link in the main menu. For countries where there is more than one "Access Number", there is a drop down pick list of cities.

You can also configure MOBIVOX specific "Access Numbers" into your profile in the "Access Numbers" section under the "My Account" main tab. When configured into your profile, your access numbers are sent to you by email as well as SMS if you have a mobile phone. You can then add these to your mobile address book.

You can also query MOBIVOX by phone for access numbers for a particular country and city. In Voice Command mode say “Access Number” or in dialpad mode press “9”. The selected access numbers are sent via either SMS (if phone is mobile) or email.

  7. What if I cannot find a MOBIVOX access number close to my home?
MOBIVOX offers great alternatives: National Access

If there is no MOBIVOX access number in your city or where you are visiting, you can still access MOBIVOX using a "National Access Number" for your country if there is one. An additional per minute surcharge will apply, but you will still save a bundle compared to any alternative. (see "National Access Numbers" for your country)

    Auto CallBack:

When the "Auto CallBack" function is activated on your account, you can place a call to any MOBIVOX access number and when you are prompted with the busy signal, hang-up the phone. MOBIVOX Voice Assistant will then call you back to initiate your call.

If MOBIVOX does not recognize your phone number when doing a call back, you will be required to manually enter your phone number. You will then be prompted to hang-up so the call back can be initiated.

To activate the "Auto CallBack" function:

    1. Login to your account and select "My Profile"
    2. Select "Service Settings"
    3. Select "Auto CallBack is active" from the "Auto CallBack"

You will then have access to all the same features as if you would have called through one of our MOBIVOX access numbers. There is no need to write anything in the body or the subject of the text. However, some providers do not permit you to send empty messages; if this is the case, just write any letter or number in the SMS and send it to the same number. Please check with your carrier to know what the costs are of sending an SMS.

Note: "SMS CallBack" will not work in situations where your telephone number is used in multiple MOBIVOX accounts.

    Web CallBack:

You can place calls directly from your Contact Book. Login to your account and select the "My Account" tab and then access "Address Book". 8. What if I change my mobile number?

Login to your account with your email and "Personal Identification Number" (PIN) then click on the "My Profile" link (under "My Account" tab) and change your mobile country and number.

Click on "My Account" tab followed by "My Profile" link and then click on "Personal Identification Number" and change.

  10. What if my mobile number is not recognized when I call MOBIVOX?

If you have entered your mobile country code and number properly during the registration process, MOBIVOX should recognize you when you call your MOBIVOX local or "National access number". There are four potential exceptions:

    a) When calling your MOBIVOX "Access Number", some telecom carriers (your mobile or home phone company) do not always transmit your number/caller ID perfectly.

    b) Your mobile phone might have some settings that keep your number private. Does your number appear on call display phones? If not, check your user manual to change the settings.

    c) You might be calling from a mobile or a landline number other than the numbers you entered when setting up your MOBIVOX account.

    d) Mobile calls made while roaming (when a subscriber of one wireless service provider uses the facilities of another wireless service provider) sometimes do not carry caller ID.

In these cases, to make a call, you will be required to manually enter a registered phone number and your "Personal Identification Number" (PIN).

  11. Can I use MOBIVOX from a phone other than the mobile number I provided during registration?

You can always use MOBIVOX from ANY telephone. When using it from a phone that is NOT registered in your account, you will be required to manually enter the registered phone number followed by your "Personal Identification Number" (PIN).

Yes, MOBIVOX works without any connection to your pc/computer.

  13. When I try to call one of my friends, MOBIVOX Voice Assistant doesn't recognize my voice command.
Here are a few tips to improve voice recognition:
    1. Speak at normal speed and volume
    2. Say contact names exactly as you have entered them in your Contact Book. i.e. say "Robert Smith" not "Bob Smith", depending on what is entered in your Contact Book
    3. Do not use symbols such as '$' or '#' in the names of your contacts. Those symbols cannot be recognized.
    4. If the contacts you imported from Skype™ had symbols, please edit them before calling them
    5. Do not use digits in the name of your contacts. Contacts such as John10101 will not be recognized.
    6. When naming your contacts, use words that can be spoken. Contacts such as jjjjllllkkkk will not be recognized.
    7. Do not to use very short words; background noise could sometimes trigger a false recognition.
    8. Minimize background noise in a vehicle by turning down the radio and rolling up open windows.
    9. If you are having difficulties being understood by MOBIVOX Voice Assistant, you can switch to dial pad mode (dialing your commands) by pressing the # key.
    10. You can also choose dial pad (dialing your commands) as your default interface in the "Service Settings" section of "My Profile" within "My Account".
  14. Do I have to use the voice recognition feature?

"Dialing your commands" using your keypad is recommended for non-fluent English speakers or if many of your friends and family have non-English names. Also, don't forget that you can always dial a number at any time. To choose either option as your default interface or to change your preference at anytime, login to your account and click on the "My Profile" section under "My Account" and then select "Service Settings". You can also alternate between the two interfaces by pressing the phones "#" key when in your main menu. For a summary of dial pad commands click here.

  15. What are the roles of the * key and the # key within the application?

    '#' key:

    • Pressing the '#' key at the end of your number or name accelerates the dialing of a number or name.
    • It can also be used in the main menu, when no other key has yet been pressed, to switch from voice command to the touch-tone dialing mode and vice versa.

    '*' key:

    • When in any sub-menu, pressing the '*' key will bring you back to the main menu.
    • When in a conversation, pressing the '*' key will bring back MOBIVOX Voice Assistant, allowing you to use our advanced features such as Instant Conferencing or Call Transfer. To resume your conversation, press the '*' key.

For an overview of our features, click here.

  16. In touch-tone-dialing mode, what happens when the letters I enter for a contact correspond to more than one contact in my contact list?

MOBIVOX will read out up to nine contacts corresponding to the letters you have entered and ask you to press 1 for the first one, 2 for the second one, etc.

You can also try typing their first name instead of their last name or vice versa or rename one of your contacts if you prefer. You only need to type the letters of the name of the contact until it becomes uniquely identifiable. (e.g. If you have only one Zylber and no other contacts whose first or last name would start with W, X, Y or Z, you can simply type-in Z (dial 9 on your keypad).

  17. What do I do if I have a BlackBerry® phone, where the numeric keypad doesn't have letters under each number?

To type letters when dialing a phone number, press the Alt key. Type the letter. To type multiple letters during a call, press the Right Shift key + the Alt key. Type letters. To type numbers again, press the Right Shift key.

Note: When you type a letter in a phone number, your BlackBerry® device dials the number that is associated with the letter on a conventional phone keypad.

  34. MOBIVOX iNum
         What is a MOBIVOX iNum?

iNum from MOBIVOX is a personal, Global Telephone Number for receiving inbound calls from any MOBIVOX country. Callers must first dial a Local or National MOBIVOX Access number followed by your MOBIVOX iNum.

Your MOBIVOX iNum is like your personal "800" number – calls to your iNum are like "collect calls" or "reverse charge" calls. It is a great way for distant family, friends and colleagues who do not need to be MOBIVOX members to stay in touch with you.

Your iNum has a country code of +883 -- the "country code" for planet earth!

883 numbers will provide interoperability between VoIP Service Providers. This means that users of MOBIVOX, Skype, Google Talk, Gizmo etc. can call each other using 883 numbers instead of VoIP usernames (eg: Skype user names). See list of VoIP providers supporting 883.

    How does MOBIVOX iNum work?

Your MOBIVOX iNum is a “virtual number” for inbound calls. You control which of your "real phones" you want to ring when someone calls your MOBIVOX iNum.

Calls to your iNum will ring your currently active iNum Call Forwarding location. You can periodically change which phone rings eg: your Mobile, home, Office or any other phone. You control your reachability on the MOBIVOX website or via voice commands – callers do not have to know or remember your various phone numbers. And your real phone numbers remain anonymous.

To contact you using your MOBIVOX iNum, non-MOBIVOX members must first dial a Local or National MOBIVOX Access number and then dial your MOBIVOX iNum. Callers need not be MOBIVOX members. You need to advise them of the MOBIVOX local access numbers in their locations.
